Mikko Mäkeläinen released a delicate duet with his 9-year-old daughter Emelia on August 21st.
" Peace and Love is a heartfelt duet that I perform together with my daughter. The song conveys a message of hope: it reminds us of the importance of peace and shows how love, compassion and coming together as one help us get through even the most difficult times," Mikko says.
Emelia's dance stage debut on the Kukonhiekan stage in Saarijärvi
"Emelia has promised to come to an Iskelmäki gig with me for the first time. We will perform the song on the Kukonhiekka stage in Saarijärvi. She is certainly very excited, but it has been easy to perform alongside her father," says Mäkeläinen, adding that Emelia will not be seen at other gigs, at least not in the near future.
Despite her young age, Emelia Mäkeläinen has already recorded a Christmas album with her father, which also includes her solo songs. By the end of the year, it will be the sixth year that she has performed alongside her father at Christmas concerts.
Turku-based lyricist Kalle Kulmala is delighted that Mäkeläinen got his daughter involved in this project, to hold our hands and open our eyes – to ask what kind of world we want to leave for our children.
"I have had the honor of writing lyrics for a few of Mikko's compositions. We have been friends throughout his career and when this composition came up for lyrics, it was clear that the situation in the world and people's uncertainty about the future simply demanded that the lyrics be taken seriously. We agreed on this. War and conflicts in the world feel really bad, and people are scared and lost."
