The original line-up of the four-piece from 1998, with Tango Prince Esa Nummela from 2000 as their soloist , made a comeback tour in the spring of 2019.
– At that time, 20 years had passed since our band (Neljänsuora) and Esa started a three-year joint gig. When the current line-up of Neljänsuora went on hiatus and our lead singer Antti Ketonen focused on his solo career, the wild idea came to bring together the original members of Neljänsuora and the name Vanhasuora & Esa Nummela was chosen, says Neljänsuora guitarist Juha Mäki.
Esa Nummela, who has returned as a soloist: – The gigs have continued where they left off in 2002, i.e. the same crazy atmosphere with which we (hopefully) memorably entertained our audience over 20 years ago, from dance floors to ships, to Lapland and back. Those were really nice and fast-paced years.
– Even the core of the program was taken from old folders that had been waiting to be taken out in the corner of the band room… so the gigs have featured the same songs (and jokes!) that were played at the turn of the millennium, Esa laughs. – Of course, new chart hits have also been included to liven up the evening.
The comeback tour “Vanhasuora janottaa ” took place in spring 2019. However, the great demand was continued and the band has been seen on shows since then. The shows have also been boosted by the singles #Fiilis and Jatkot and Myynninsä released by the band.
