Teijo Lindström, crowned Tango King in 2017, is a captivating personality and performer. Before winning the tango crown, Teijo had performed and given concerts a lot, but with the victory, he became known to the Finnish people, and it became clear to everyone that this man and his amazing voice and interpretations are here to stay.
Known as quite the rascal, Teijo revamped his repertoire in one fell swoop, and now his gigs feature broad and colorful dance music that is praised by the audience.
– The program jumped a lot forward and we completely renewed our set. Now our dance evenings are diverse, as our program includes, in addition to traditional dance styles, a lot of Latin rhythms and of course also Buggi, Rock and Jive. There are also less frequently heard rumbas, such as Palaa luoksein mun, which is one of my favorite songs, the swinging Crazy Little Thing Called Love, the fast-paced Gypsy Woman and Edit Piaff's magnificent waltz, Padam Padam, which has been particularly popular with the dance crowd.
Various theme concerts are a natural fit for Teijo, who is also adept at creating wonderful arrangements, having also served as the director of a large choir. The multi-talented artist's most recent concert debuts have been performances based on the music of Henry Theel , and more diverse concerts are planned.
Teijo's tango album Tangokuningas 2017 – Teijo Lindström was released in autumn 2017. The album Oon rauktaa saattu was released in 2018 (Sony Music) and the first single from the album was called Jos väjat minut.
