History
Mikko Mäkeläinen burst into the public consciousness as the winner of Suomen Tähti 2000. In a live MTV3 broadcast, watched by over a million viewers, Mikko brought the lights of Moscow to life; both the audience and the jury were enchanted, and the press unanimously chose Mikko as their favorite. "Miko has the makings of a star for the whole of Finland. He is a very charismatic stage performer and immediately wins the audience over," the judges said in 2000. Already in August '99, Mikko attracted attention from music professionals by winning the Ponnahdus Pinnalle singing competition at the age of just 17. The victory in the competition came by unanimous decision of the jury.
Mikko has also performed on concert tours, including Ilkka Vainio's 50th birthday concerts, various tango concerts, and the Sinitaivas concert tour and the iskelmä concert tour together with Tarja Lunnas. Mikko Mäkeläinen has been touring around Finland for many years with the Näin sydämeeni joulun teen Christmas church concerts.
