Valued pianist Jukka Nykänen is also a composer, arranger and musician known from many concerts and TV productions.
In addition to solo albums and concerts, Jukka has collaborated with many well-known stars. Among the domestic artists are: Pentti Hietanen, Angelika Klas, Tomi Metsäketo ja Maria Lund. Jukka is also familiar Yle RSO -TV programs in which he has appeared as a pianist, interviewee, and presenter of works.
In his own concerts, Jukka Nykänen can also play various piano arrangements and talk about their composition, his influences, free accompaniment, and his work as a musician.
– I have always been ready to take on new challenges, which makes my job very broad. I have appeared regularly on TV and radio and have worked extensively with vocal music, theatre and opera – not only as a pianist, but also as a composer, arranger and conductor. I have released two solo albums of my own piano arrangements: Kotimaani and Pianovirtuoso, which was chosen by Helsingin Sanomat as one of the best albums of the year.
– Over the years, I have performed at, for example, the Helsinki Festival, the Espoo International Piano Week, the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, LuostoClassic, and the Turku, Mänttä, Lemi, and Joroinen Music Festivals. I have also played as a soloist with the Helsinki and Kuopio City Orchestras, the Vantaa Entertainment Orchestra, and the Retuperä WBK. In addition to Finland, I have given concerts in Germany, Japan, and the USA. I am at home on the concert stage, on the theater stage, as well as on the stage of an entertainment concert tour or in a contemporary opera. Sometimes, even fast-paced performances are best contrasted by an atmospheric lied evening in church.
