Introduction

Juho Punkeri is the 2026 Tango King , whose warm voice, strong interpretation ability and natural performance style charm audiences all over Finland. On dance stages and in concert halls, he is known as an artist who combines impressive singing skills with genuine presence and charisma.

Juho has built a respected career in classical music, especially as an interpreter of early music and lied music. He actively performs as a soloist with orchestras and choirs and regularly performs with pianists Maritta Manner and Tuula Hällström, among others. Juho has appeared on opera stages in Finland, Germany and Austria. He has also recorded the album Joulutarina (Christmas Story) with actress-singer Eija Ahvo and pianist Tuula Hällström.

Juho graduated from the Sibelius Academy's opera studies in 2016 with Professor Erkki Rajamäki as his teacher. Prior to this, he completed his church musician degree at the same institution in 2013.

Competition success has been a significant part of Juho's career. In 2026, he crowned his career by winning the Tangomarkkinat singing competition and achieving the title of Tango King. Previously, he has won the Helsinki Lied competition together with pianist Maritta Manner and received a special prize at the Lappeenranta singing competition. He has also reached the finals at, among others, the Innsbruck Baroque Opera Competition and the Merikanto singing competition.

In addition to his work as a singer, Juho works as a cantor and singing teacher. He has worked in the Cantores Minores boys ' choir and the Student Union's Laulaj, among other things . His versatile musicianship is crowned by a strong violin background: the violin was his main instrument throughout his childhood and youth.
